Press Requests
Media professionals who would like to apply for credentials should read the media guidelines below and then proceed to the appropriate Press Application. Please note, submitting an application is simply a request, and it may not be approved. All approved media representatives must agree to the event guidelines and ticket policies. In some instances, approved members of the press may be asked to meet with “Uptown FRESH Sneakerball” staff prior to this Juneteenth GSO festival event.
Application Deadline
Application deadlines need to be completed by May 31, 2022. Requests will not be accepted after the designated deadline and only a limited number of credentials will be granted. Each individual requesting credentials must complete their own application.
Qualifications
In order to be considered for press credentials, you must be either on assignment with coverage secured, or have an established media or social media presence that’s inline with the type of coverage that our event warrants. Generally, no more than 2 representatives from any one specific media outlet are approved. Included at least two of your social media platforms in your message (IG, Facebook, Twitter, website, blog page, etc.).
Coverage
We do not award credentials to individuals who only want to cover a specific artist. If you are attending these events at the Khalif Event Center as a media representative, you must cover the day in its entirety.
Photographers
Please note, a very limited number of Photo Passes are awarded. Photographers must be on assignment with coverage secured. Approved photographers must shoot the festival in its entirety (not just artists). High-res .JPG files with no watermarks must be submitted no later than 10 business days after the event. All photographers on assignment must sign a photo release and submit it at least 10 days prior to the event. Any photographer approved to take photos at this event agrees that photos shall not be sold.
Media outlets that need photos of the event for post-coverage may send their request to info[at]UptownGSO.org.
Videography
No video cameras or camera crews are permitted inside the event unless an authorized television crew has permission. Smartphone videos of course are welcomed!
Credentials
We will contact your Supervisor/Editor to confirm coverage and in some cases, may request an official letter. When completing your application please use a valid working email with your company domain name (i.e. bob[at]radiostationname.com).
Incomplete Applications
We will not accept incomplete applications. The more details you provide, the more efficient the review process is. Leaving fields blank may affect your application and we ask that you’re as thorough as possible. As this is the first annual, you won’t have previously covered the event in order to email links, articles or clippings to info[at]UptownGSO.org. Keep in mind for next year however!
Acceptance & Notification
We reserve the right to decline any requests for credentials. Due to the high volume of applications we expect to receive, we will only notify you if your application is accepted. Notifications will be sent via email 1-2 weeks prior to the event. Not all approved press/media representatives will receive ‘press’ passes. If your application is approved, you will be emailed check-in and on-site details.
